The carnival is on hold until further notice. Some issues have to be worked out.
The first edition of the carnival will be hosted at Endless Gibberish. The carnival is slated to be published October 15th at 9 AM. The first edition will coincide with Blog Action Day 2008 for Poverty.
The deadline is 9pm on October 14th so if you don’t have a Kiva lending experience or other microfinance related article to submit get busy writing!
Things are going well and not only does the Microfinance Carnival have an official website but the Bloggers lending team on Kiva also shares this website as its home.
The first question that many people ask is “What is a microfinance carnival?” when they hear of it. Blog carnivals are generally posts that highlight informative or interesting articles written by bloggers from around the web. It’s called a carnival because the host moves from blog to blog. Microfinance refers to the provision of financial services to the poor and low-income (such as lending on Kiva). It’s a microfinance carnival because that’s the type of articles that we aim to highlight. Generally most of the articles will be related to Kiva and lending experiences.
Currently new editions of the Microfinance Carnival are slated to be published every month. Depending on the turnout of people willing to contribute the frequency may increase in the future.
